Eurocept cares
An organisation with a mission, that is how we can describe Eurocept. The company is committed to simplify the therapeutic relationship between physicians and patients. There are still many steps to be taken. Especially now, the Ministry of Health in the Netherlands has decided to transfer the outpatient reimbursement for expensive specialist medicines to the hospital budget. Hospitals will be responsible for providing integral care around the patient, even to the home situation. Eurocept wants to collaborate with the hospitals in order to have this all organised.
Eurocept is located in Ankeveen, the Netherlands. The pharmaceutical division of the company provides registration, marketing and sales of medicines and supplies to hospitals, hospital pharmacies and wholesalers. The medication includes amongst others ADHD medication, anesthesia, urology and immunology products. The sales and distribution in the BeNeLux is organised from the offices and warehouse in Ankeveen, the Netherlands. Besides distinguished medicinal products, Eurocept provides under the name Eurocept Homecare medical technology such as infusion pumps. Also the specialised tailor made homecare services to the patient are part of the Eurocept Homecare organisation.
Partner between doctor and patient
Medication, patient-friendly administration forms, logistics and homecare. Eurocept has it all. Patrick Chotoe, Division Manager Homecare, explains: "We want to operate as a partner between physician and patient. Besides offering medication and medical technology, we also offer homecare with about 55 specialised, trained and registered nurses. We have developped 24 care programmes, combined with specialised medication.
Development
Depending on the Ministry's decision, medical specialist medicines will be paid by the hospitals and no longer reimbursed from the GVS (Medicines Reimbursement System) in the near future. This will start already with TNF-alfa blocker per 1st January 2012. This transfer will be a major conversion for hospitals. Eurocept is in this respect the excellent partner for the hospitals. In fact, Eurocept is already experienced in homecare services combined with the delivery of medicines since 2001. We did not only specialize care programmes for 24 medicines, but we also developed special care programmes for the hospitals on Nutrion, Cystic Fibrosis and Immunology disorders.
The concept is clear. Through the hospital, the patient will get in contact with Eurocept Homecare. After signing-up, a nurse of Eurocept Homecare will call the patient for the first appointment. In the meantime the pharmacist will order the medicines at Eurocept Pharmaceuticals. Chotoe says: " Hospitals, collaborating with us, do know that from the moment of transfer everything will be organised by Eurocept. Eurocept works together with all care providers and medical professionals. That is an essential part of our concept."
Benefits
The care programmes are developed by medical professionals and carried out based on nurse protocols. Consultation between the nurse and doctor is taken place and the care status is current and known. Eurocept cooperates with doctors, nurses, pharmacists, health insurers, pharmaceutical companies, homecare organisations and other suppliers of medical devices. With the consent of both the doctor and the patient, all available data of the patient are recorded in an electronic patient data base system.
Chotoe: "Thanks to this transparency, we can deliver high-quality care that can be monitored any time. Our concept is very manageable and therefore efficient and cost effectively."
Cooperation
Chotoe advises hospitals to look for a good partner rapidly: "the switch will take time. And finding a good partner is essential. Fortunately the hospitals do realise the essence. We do already have a collaboration with the University Medical Centre Utrecht and the Academic Hospital Maastricht . The do not only see the essence but also the preferences of having a partner that continues the care of the patient at home. Quality is guaranteed and thanks to our electronic database, the doctor is always up to date on the situation of the patient. Eurocept is ready for the future.

Eurocept, in conjunction with the University Medical Centre Utrecht (UMCU) is taking homecare nursing to a higher level of quality.
Patients are dismissed from a hospital bed in an earlier stage. The administration of medication at home will be taken care of by the nurses of Eurocept Homecare, which can be achieved by the most advanced medical technology of nowadays.

On the 2st January 2010 a successful collaboration started betweeen Eurocept and the University Medical Centre Utrecht, allowing Eurocept to coordinate and implement the logistics of the Medical specialistic homecare services.
The basic assumption for collaboration is continuing the high quality requirements from the UMCU for the wellbeing of their patients.,Eurocept can achieve the high quality requirement. The continuous updating of our protocols and refreshments courses for our nurses, ensuring a satisfactory and professional service to the patients.
The conclusion, drawn from the general inspection report 2009, scored a below par rating for medication and medical equipment in nursing homes. Eurocept, together with medical centres/hospitals and health insurers, strives to keep the homecare services to the highest level of quality and that it remains with the patients' budget. The requirements of the Inspectors of Health, remain in here as a strict guideline.
